MOVENSYS Inc. (formerly Soft Servo Systems / Soft Motions & Robotics) is a motion-control software company headquartered in Bundang-gu, Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. The company traces its origins to a 1996 next-generation robot controller project at MIT and the 1998 founding of Soft Servo Systems, and rebranded to MOVENSYS in 2021 to reflect its ambition as a global leader in robotics, motion control and advanced measurement. Its flagship product, WMX, is the world's first software-based motion controller platform, integrating Soft Motion technology with EtherCAT communication to deliver up to 64-axis real-time PC-based motion control on an open architecture; the company also developed Soft Master based on CC-Link IE TSN and MECHATROLINK-4, and was the world's first to release a CC-Link IE TSN Soft Master.
Beyond software, MOVENSYS supplies a hardware portfolio of industrial PCs (IPC), I/O modules, servo and stepper drives, and motion modules. Through its 2023 strategic acquisition of Skylla Technologies, an MIT-affiliated AMR control software firm in Boston, the company is building the Skylla autonomous mobile robot software line-up (Jetstream autonomous driving, Nova all-in-one controller, and Galaxy fleet/ACS control) by combining Skylla navigation with WMX. MOVENSYS serves semiconductor, display, secondary-battery and logistics-automation customers, maintains global branches in Boston, Tokyo and Shanghai, and holds ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and 27001 certifications.
