Microbric Pty Ltd was founded in 2003 by Brenton O'Brien and is headquartered at 107 Seaview Road, Tennyson, South Australia 5022. The company designs and manufactures affordable educational robotics kits for K-12 classrooms and STEM learning. Its flagship product, the Edison robot (now in V3), is a small programmable robot compatible with LEGO bricks designed to teach computational thinking, coding, and engineering concepts to students from age 4 through secondary school.
Microbric also produces the Viper kit, a snap-together electronics platform configurable as a sumo robot, line tracker, or wheeled robot with add-on packs. The Edison ecosystem includes software tools at multiple complexity levels, from graphical block-based programming to Python. In 2004, inventor Brenton O'Brien won the People's Choice Award on the ABC television program New Inventors.
Microbric has exported Edison robots to schools in numerous countries and received support from Export Finance Australia. Products are distributed globally through resellers including RobotShop and STEMfinity.
