The independent space engineering company provides thermal, structural, and computational-fluid-dynamics analysis for satellite and launcher programs, reporting more than 100 completed projects for over 30 customers.
Its service lines include thermal engineering (thermal mathematical modeling, heat-flux calculation, heat-pipe design, and conductivity bench testing using ESATAN-TMS and Systema-Thermica), structural analysis (finite-element modeling with dynamic, random-vibration, shock, and fatigue analysis using Altair OptiStruct and HyperMesh), and CFD modeling of heat exchangers and propulsion combustion in OpenFOAM. The company has also developed THEAMS (Thermally Enhanced Additively Manufactured Structures), a patented method integrating two-phase fluid cooling into additively manufactured, topology-optimized satellite frames; Madrid Space states it lowers component temperatures by 15 to 30 degrees Celsius, raises power throughput by 20 to 50 percent, and cuts structural mass by 15 to 25 percent.
Madrid Space lists engineering work on ESA's ExoMars 2018 and BepiColombo missions, the Orion MPCV, Solar Orbiter, and Airbus's EDRS satellite system, and has received funding through the Community of Madrid and the EU regional development fund.
