Light Origins (亮源新创, registered as 深圳亮源新创科技有限公司) is a Chinese embodied-AI company established in late 2024 and run from Shenzhen, with further offices in Beijing and Singapore. Founder and CEO Roger Jiang (姜旭) worked at OpenAI from 2019 on pre-training, alignment, optimisation and infrastructure for InstructGPT, ChatGPT and GPT-4, and is credited eight times in the GPT-4 technical report; he holds a physics PhD from the University of Maryland. Chinese reports put headcount above 100 with more than 90 per cent in R&D, an algorithm team drawn from QS top-20 universities and a hardware team with Huawei and DJI backgrounds.

The company develops foundation models for Physical AI around three stated paradigms: scalable pre-training, scalable alignment and scalable deployment. Published work includes Light-O1, a whole-body intelligence model pre-trained on human actions captured in internet video that maps language instructions to whole-body motion, released alongside an open 6-billion-parameter Light-O1-Preview with a Hugging Face playground; Light REACT, whole-body intelligence for humanoids that recover from falls and adapt to hardware damage; and LightNav-0, a general-purpose navigation model. Third-party trackers describe Lightbot-0, a roughly 90 cm and 18.9 kg research humanoid with 21 actuated degrees of freedom, as an internal training platform rather than a saleable product. Stated technical areas are multimodal learning, whole-body in-context learning and Real2Sim2Real transfer for zero-shot generalisation, with data infrastructure reported to process on the order of 200,000 hours of video per week at thousand-GPU scale.

In August 2026 the company announced a Pre-A round of several hundred million yuan led by CAS Investment Management, with China Merchants Venture and Xianghe Capital participating. Its products page states that a bipedal humanoid is coming; no model name or date has been published, so that remains a plan.
