KLS Pharma Robotics France sells KLS drawer-column pharmacy robots (Solo, Twin, Slimline, Quattro) storing up to 35,000 boxes, from Vendenheim.
KLS Pharma Robotics France is the French market presence of KLS, a German developer and manufacturer of automated dispensing robots for retail pharmacies. KLS entered the French market in 2023 and lists a French contact address in Vendenheim, near Strasbourg. The KLS group traces its origins to 1998, when it was created as S&T HMR GmbH; it was renamed KLS Steuerungstechnik GmbH in 2006 and has been a subsidiary of PRO MEDISOFT AG since 2015. Headquarters and production are in Weiskirchen in the Saarland, and more than 75 engineers and technicians develop and produce its modular systems.
KLS describes its product as the first drawer-column pharmacy robot: the machine automates the picking of medicine boxes that pharmacists traditionally do by hand from drawer columns. The range comprises four models with a MultiPicking head: KLS Solo mp (one column, up to 10,000 boxes), KLS Twin mp (two columns side by side, up to 20,000 boxes), KLS Slimline mp (two columns in line, up to 20,000 boxes) and KLS Quattro mp (four facing columns, up to 35,000 boxes). Systems are modular in 5 cm steps of width and height, weigh under 200 kg per square metre, and handle boxes or bottles up to 1.2 kg. Standard noise level is 48 dB, with a Super Silence option. The KLS Autoload automatic loader handles 240 boxes per hour and up to two can be mounted per robot. Options include round-package handling, a label printer, an integrated refrigerator for 200-600 boxes, video surveillance, object detection and sound insulation.
Group milestones include presenting the KLS module system at Expopharm in Munich in 2004, installations in Austria, Spain, Denmark, the Netherlands and Switzerland by 2011, a Duplex Integral system at Saniplus Apotheke im OEZ in 2013, the K-Vision electronic visual selection system in 2017, a cooperation with the DFKI artificial intelligence research centre in Saarbrucken from 2018, the acquisition of Barcelona picking-machine maker 3aR in 2019, and entry into Poland in 2020. In France the company runs a pilot-pharmacy programme for early adopters.
