KEB America, Inc. is the North American subsidiary of KEB Automation KG, a global automation manufacturer founded in 1972 by Karl Ernst Brinkmann in Barntrup, Germany. Headquartered in Shakopee, Minnesota and operating in North America since 1982, KEB America manufactures, assembles, services and supports motion control and industrial automation products at its 150,000 square foot, ISO 9001:2015 certified facility, employing over 150 people.
The company's product suite spans controls (HMIs, industrial PCs, embedded controls, EtherCAT I/O, routers and software), drives (variable frequency drives, servo drives, regenerative drives, filters, chokes and braking resistors), motors and gearing (servo motors, integral gearmotors and gearing), and electromagnetic brakes and clutches including spring-applied brakes, load brakes, clutch-brake units and rectifiers. KEB technology covers high-speed motor control, motion control, CNC automation, EtherCAT drives, SCL encoderless positioning, MQTT IoT edge gateways and functional safety. Its components serve demanding applications including elevators and escalators, eMobility, packaging, plastics, medical, material handling, theatre and stage, wind power and metalworking. KEB increasingly targets robotics, marketing flat-profile pancake brakes for humanoid, collaborative and exoskeleton robots, and it demonstrated coordinated motion control solutions at the Automate trade show in 2025. The parent KEB Group operates production sites in Germany, the US, China and Japan, with more than 1,400 employees worldwide. KEB emphasises customized, engineered solutions, applying its existing technology toolkit or developing bespoke designs to meet machine builder requirements.
