K.U.L.T. Kress Umweltschonende Landtechnik GmbH (KULT-Kress) is a German manufacturer of mechanical weed-control equipment for vegetables, row crops, vineyards and orchards. Its tool range includes finger weeders that loosen soil around crop roots, the Duo finger weeder for early close cultivation of direct-seeded crops and small transplants at row spacings down to 9 inches, and the Maxi weeder with a 28-inch poly disc for mature vineyards, orchards and nursery stock. Tools are carried on the Argus tool bar and steering system for closely spaced vegetable, herb and flower beds, or the heavy-duty Habicht tool bar for row crops, grains and widely spaced vegetables, which can be steered manually or mounted on a camera-steered hitch. The company also describes a vision system that combines infrared and visible light to recognise crop plants, including on dark soil and red lettuce.
For in-row weeding KULT offers camera-controlled hoes. The KULT iSelect uses Tillett and Hague cameras that measure leaf area and works best in planted crops such as lettuce, leafy vegetables and brassicas. The KULT iScan uses Ullmann camera technology with one camera per row: a 2D camera with AI finds the centre of each crop plant and a 3D camera measures plant height and distance to the ground, while hydraulic blades move in and out of the row. A four-row version with finger weeders handles row spacings from 35 cm up to 1-1.5 m and was priced from EUR 125,000 in 2024; its Dutch importer claims 80 to 90 percent removal of in-row weeds. In 2023 KULT introduced electric hoeing elements developed for field robots and other autonomous carriers without hydraulics: one unit drives two blades whose opening can be adjusted steplessly while hoeing, and electric and hydraulic elements are interchangeable and compatible with various camera steering systems.
