Waltham, Massachusetts real-time-software maker founded 2008 by former Ardence staff; its RTX64 and MaxRT products turn Windows into a real-time OS.
IntervalZero, Inc. is a privately held software company based in Waltham, Massachusetts, founded in July 2008 by a group of former Ardence executives led by CEO Jeffrey D. Hibbard. The company traces its technology lineage to VenturCom, an MIT-founded firm that built the Venix operating system in 1980 and introduced the RTX real-time extension for Windows NT in 1995; VenturCom became Ardence in 2004, Citrix Systems acquired Ardence in 2006, and IntervalZero was formed in 2008 when its founders acquired Ardence's embedded-software division from Citrix, which retained a minority ownership stake in the new company.
IntervalZero builds hard real-time software that turns Microsoft Windows into a real-time operating system through symmetric multiprocessing. Its RTX64 product lets 64-bit multicore PCs take over control tasks once handled by dedicated DSP or FPGA hardware, while the newer MaxRT wRTOS and MaxRT vRTOS extend that real-time layer as a hypervisor compatible with Windows and Linux hosts; the company also maintains its earlier 32-bit RTX product for legacy deployments. Its software supports EtherCAT, OPC UA, and TSN industrial protocols and is deployed in industrial automation, robotics control, medical-device, automotive, and defense applications.
In addition to its Waltham headquarters, IntervalZero maintains offices in Nice, France; Munich, Germany; and Taiwan.
Primary type & automation activities this supplier delivers:
64-bit hard real-time extension for Microsoft Windows enabling deterministic SMP control for industrial automation and robotics without dedicated DSP or FPGA hardware.
Next-generation Windows-hosted real-time OS from IntervalZero for high-performance deterministic control on multicore PC platforms.
