Immersive Robotics develops the Waldo autonomous service robot and co-developed SNCF's Baryl waste-collection robot deployed in French train stations.
Immersive Robotics is a French developer of service and security robots for commercial and industrial spaces such as stores, shopping malls, train stations, hospitals, airports and offices.
Its main product is Waldo, an autonomous multipurpose robot with a height adjustable from 1.30 m to 1.70 m. Waldo navigates with an internal map and avoids obstacles using LIDARs, sonars and cameras; it greets and informs visitors through a chatbot and tablet, and uses 3D cameras with image recognition to identify objects and people. Options include a tablet, a payment terminal and hands. Use cases described by the company include multilingual greeting, food and wine pairing advice in supermarkets, wayfinding and escorting visitors, announcements, store and site patrols that detect spills, holes, unauthorised people or unattended objects, shelf scanning for stock levels, and 3D mapping and measurement.
The company also built a waste-collection robot for the French rail operator SNCF. Known as Baryl and co-developed with the design studio AREP Designlab, it was tested from late 2016 and by 2018 was operating in Paris Gare du Nord, Paris Gare de Lyon, Bordeaux and Aix-en-Provence stations. It roams a mapped area, comes to people who raise a hand (detected with 3D cameras and image recognition), returns to base when a fill-level probe shows it is full, and alerts maintenance staff by SMS, notification or email.
Primary type & automation activities this supplier delivers:
