iiM GmbH measurement + engineering is a German developer and manufacturer of optical metrology products and LED lighting systems for machine vision, headquartered at Neuer Friedberg 5, 98527 Suhl, Thuringia, Germany. The company was founded in 1998 and has been operating for over 25 years with additional sites in Nuremberg, Augsburg, and Weissensberg. iiM GmbH operates two primary business divisions. The first is Cable Measurement Engineering, marketed under the VisioCablePro brand.
This division produces specialized optical measurement systems and peripherals for the wire and cable manufacturing industry, enabling real-time geometric inspection of insulating covers and cable sheathing in accordance with applicable standards. VisioCablePro systems support quality assurance during cable production through non-contact optical sensing. The second division is LED Lighting for Machine Vision, marketed under the LUMIMAX brand.
LUMIMAX products include area lights (the ML series, modular from 50 to 250 mm), ring lights (the LRHP High Performance series featuring two rows of high-power LEDs achieving up to 4 million lux in strobe mode), bar lights (the LBHP series, cascadable up to 4 meters), dome lights, dark field illuminators, coaxial lights, telecentric lights, LED spots, and SWIR (Short-Wave Infrared) surface radiators available in nine wavelengths between 980 and 1600 nm for specialized inspection. The BASIC series of LUMIMAX lighting provides advanced strobe technology delivering light outputs up to 30 times higher than permanent mode, critical for high-speed machine vision applications. iiM GmbH holds ISO 9001:2015 certification, verified annually by DEKRA Certification GmbH. In September 2024, iiM GmbH was acquired by Exaktera LLC, a Union Park Capital portfolio company based in Boston, Massachusetts, which specializes in machine vision technologies.
Following the acquisition, iiM GmbH continues operating under its existing management team of Heiko Freund, Peter Anacker, and Axel Muller at the Suhl site, with Exaktera committing to invest in the Suhl location.
