igus B.V. is the Dutch subsidiary of igus GmbH, the Cologne-based global manufacturer of high-performance technical plastics for motion applications. igus GmbH was founded by Gunter Blase on 15 October 1964 in his double garage in Cologne, Germany. igus B.V. is incorporated in the Netherlands with its registered address at Modemweg 37 C, 3821 BS Amersfoort, Utrecht. The Netherlands entity began operations in the early 1990s under Dick Prins and was formally incorporated in 2012. As the Dutch sales and marketing entity for the igus group, igus B.V. serves industrial customers across the Netherlands with the full igus product portfolio, including energy chain systems (e-chains), polymer plain bearings (iglide), flexible cables (chainflex), linear systems, and low-cost robotics.
The igus group as a whole employs over 4,600 people and is represented in 35 countries. The global headquarters in Cologne Porz-Lind, established in 1994, features a continuously expanding campus. igus is the worldwide market leader in energy supply systems (cable carriers), highly flexible cables, plain and linear polymer bearings, and lead screw technology made from tribo-polymers — self-lubricating, maintenance-free plastics that replace metal components in moving applications. In 2017, igus entered the robotics market with the robolink modular robotic arm system, later evolving into the ReBeL cobot — a 6-degree-of-freedom collaborative robot arm with 2 kg payload, 664 mm reach, and plus or minus 1 mm repeatability, built from igus motion plastics and BLDC motors.
The ReBeL, weighing approximately 8 kg, is designed for pick-and-place, inspection, lab automation, and light assembly and integrates with the igus Robot Control (iRC) software as well as ROS, Modbus TCP, and TCP/IP. In 2016, igus introduced 3D printing services for tribo-filaments and smart plastics for predictive maintenance. igus components are certified to ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and ISO 50001, and numerous products carry UL, RoHS, REACH, and FDA compliance. The igus.nl domain serves Dutch customers with the localized product catalog and ordering platform.
