Company Overview

ICEYE is a Finnish New Space company founded in 2014 as a spin-off from Aalto University, operating the world's largest constellation of synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) microsatellites. SAR imaging penetrates clouds, smoke and darkness, enabling reliable Earth observation regardless of weather or time of day. ICEYE pioneered the miniaturization of SAR payloads to satellites weighing under 100 kg, dramatically lowering the cost of high-resolution radar imaging. The company designs, manufactures and operates its own satellites in-house and offers persistent monitoring, very-high-resolution imaging and change-detection services. ICEYE's data products serve insurance, disaster management, maritime domain awareness, defense, intelligence and security customers, supporting applications such as flood mapping, vessel detection and infrastructure monitoring.

The company also sells dedicated satellite missions, allowing governments and commercial customers to acquire and operate their own SAR spacecraft.

Headquartered in Espoo, Finland, ICEYE has grown to over 1,000 employees with operations in Poland, Spain, Germany, the UK, Australia, Japan, the UAE, Greece and the United States. The constellation provides revisit times measured in hours, with imaging resolutions down to sub-meter levels. ICEYE has launched dozens of SAR satellites and continues to expand its constellation to deliver near-real-time global monitoring. In 2026 the company raised over one billion euros in a Series F round led by General Atlantic, with backers including Nokia, the Qatar Investment Authority and TCV, reaching a valuation exceeding 10 billion euros.
