Shanghai maker of COFE+ robotic coffee kiosks - a four-axis barista arm in an enclosed booth, now in its seventh generation
Shanghai Hi-Dolphin Robot Technology Co., Ltd. (上海氦豚机器人科技有限公司) designs and manufactures robotic coffee kiosks under the COFE+ brand. It was established in Shanghai in January 2018 by founder Philip Han and keeps R&D, operations technology and sales in house.
The core machine is an enclosed booth built around a four-axis robotic arm that handles cup placement, brewing, lid fitting and handover to the customer. A drink is produced in roughly 50 seconds; the company states a loaded unit holds supplies for about 300 beverages and that the platform can serve over 1,000 cups a day with limited maintenance. Beyond espresso drinks it offers latte art and 3D logo printing on the foam surface. The range covers indoor and outdoor Robot Coffee Kiosks, a Robot Coffee Bar, a Robot Coffee Counter, a Corner (Mini) Robot Coffee Shop and spare parts. Generations are numbered: the fifth generation was in the field in 2024 and the seventh generation, after what the company describes as eight years of development, is current.
Deployment targets are airports, shopping malls, offices, universities, hospitals and tourist sites. Company-reported reach is over 200 cities across 27 Chinese provinces and, as of September 2026, 75 countries on five continents; an earlier 2024 figure was 31 export countries. A documented installation is an airport in Urumqi, and a COFE+ robot cafe operates on Nanjing Road in Shanghai. The seventh generation was shown at CIFTIS 2026 in Beijing and at the 2026 NRA Show in Chicago.
In October 2024 trade press reported that the company closed several funding rounds within a single week from Chinese venture capital firms and family foundations; neither investor names nor amounts were disclosed.
