Company Overview

Heven AeroTech is a manufacturer of hydrogen-powered unmanned aircraft systems for defense, national security and public safety users. It was founded in 2019 by Bentzion (Ben) Levinson, a former Israel Defense Forces combat officer and Stanford Graduate School of Business alumnus, who remains founder and chief executive. The company traded earlier under the Heven Drones name, and the hevendrones.com domain now redirects to hevenaerotech.com. Headquarters are at 45240 Business Court in Dulles, Virginia, with a West Coast site in Bingen, Washington, in the Columbia River Gorge, and an Israeli site in Mevo Carmel. The company website reports 154 employees and more than 18,600 flight hours.

The product line is built around swappable hydrogen tanks that let aircraft fly far longer than battery equivalents and refuel in minutes. The Z1 is a VTOL aircraft under 55 lb takeoff weight with up to 10 hours endurance, a 10 lb payload, a 14 ft wingspan and a tank swap in under five minutes; it is on the Defense Innovation Unit's Blue UAS Select list, which the company describes as the only hydrogen drone there. The Raider is a larger twin-fuselage VTOL platform with 12-plus hours endurance on one hydrogen tank, a 50 lb payload and a 262 lb maximum takeoff weight, aimed at ISR, logistics and tactical missions. The H2D55 is the company's first hydrogen multirotor, carrying 10 lb for up to three hours, and Atlas is a heavy-lift multirotor carrying 70 lb for resupply and ISR in GPS-denied conditions. A Refueler product produces hydrogen on demand so units can operate away from fixed fuel supply.

In December 2025 the company announced a 100 million US dollar Series B at a reported 1 billion US dollar valuation, with quantum computing company IonQ as strategic investor alongside returning investors including Texas Venture Partners. The IonQ tie-up created an engineering division working on quantum-based positioning, navigation and timing for contested environments. Press coverage of the round named U.S. Special Operations Command, combatant commands and allied forces among its customers.

In September 2026 Heven brought a 56,000 sq ft production facility in Winchester, Virginia, into operation within roughly 90 days, its first East Coast production site, focused on Z1 production and planned as a template for a wider US network of hydrogen UAS factories. Board members include chairman Andrew Lowinger of DMC Capital and Jordan Shapiro of IonQ; Yossi Weiss, a former chief executive of Israel Aerospace Industries, leads Israeli operations.
