Harmonic Drive SE (founded 1970, headquartered in Limburg an der Lahn, Germany) is the global technology leader in high-precision, zero-backlash drive systems based on the strain wave gear principle invented by Walton Musser in 1955. The company produces servo actuators, mechatronic drive units, direct drives, strain wave gearboxes, planetary gearboxes, and custom precision drives for industrial robots, collaborative robots, machine tools, medical devices, aerospace, and automotive applications. Key product lines include the SHG series for robot axes and the CSG-2A component set for SCARA and delta robots.
