Fid Labs raised $1.7 million in pre-seed funding from investors including 8VC and Boost VC. Early customers included Anduril Industries. The company's team was small, operating as an early-stage startup with a focus on selling to robotics engineering teams at defense and industrial companies.
In April 2026, Fid Labs was acquired by Nominal, a company focused on industrial data infrastructure that had raised $80 million at a $1 billion valuation. The acquisition was led by Nominal's CEO Jason Hoch, who described the Fid Labs acquisition as bringing domain-expert AI capabilities to Nominal's hardware engineering platform. The Fid Labs technology is expected to extend Nominal's ability to serve engineering teams working on complex hardware systems.
