Ferag Solutions

Ferag Solutions is the intralogistics and warehouse automation business of the Swiss Ferag group, headquartered at Industriestrasse 1 in Hinwil, near Zurich. Ferag was founded in 1957, and for decades its conveying and processing systems were best known in newspaper printing. The family-owned group now operates through two legally independent companies, Ferag Solutions AG and Ferag AG, under one brand; Hinwil remains the centre for innovation, engineering and production, and development and manufacturing stay in Europe.

The core hardware is ferag.skyfall, a modular overhead pouch-sorting system for sorting, buffering and sequencing individual items in order fulfilment. The company's technical data give up to 12,000 load carriers per hour, a maximum conveying capacity of 10,500 carriers per hour per module, conveyor speeds of 0.75 m/s and up to 2 m/s on gravity-driven stretches, inclines up to 90 degrees, and carriers rated at up to 20 kg including the pouch, with a 10 kg per-carrier figure also published. Items are identified by barcode, QR code, RFID or camera, and the system runs on rolling friction to reduce energy use. skyfall.controls and skyfall.software provide the machine control and sorter software.

Above the equipment sits the doWarehouse software family: doWarehouse WMS for warehouse management, doWarehouse WES/WCS, a combined execution and control system that coordinates robots, conveyors and other automated equipment from Ferag and third-party vendors, and doWarehouse.SCADA for supervisory monitoring. A Software Experts service and an online configurator, ferag.go, which produces a first pouch-sorter concept, layout direction and investment estimate, complete the offer. The company states that its integrated systems handle more than 100,000 units per day.

Target sectors are fashion, retail, beauty and healthcare, and general merchandise. Published case studies cover Alcon, a fashion logistics distributor and a Belgian industrial laundry.

Ferag Solutions also integrates third-party robotics into its projects. In September 2026 it and Hai Robotics announced an expanded partnership across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, pairing Hai Robotics' automated case-handling mobile robot systems with Ferag's integration work after five years of joint warehouse projects; the companies said several projects had already been signed.

The group reports more than 450 employees, customers in more than 50 countries and its own sales companies in 18 countries, including Ferag America in Somerset, New Jersey (opened 2006), Ferag UK in Harlow, Essex (established 1969), Ferag Deutschland in Sulzbach am Taunus and Ferag Iberica in Madrid.
