EMAG is a German-headquartered manufacturer of precision machine tools and production systems, with roots tracing back to an ironworks founded in 1867 in Bautzen, Saxony, later re-established in 1952 in Eislingen before relocating to its current global headquarters in Salach, Baden-Wurttemberg, in 1969. Today EMAG Systems GmbH operates as an umbrella organization for a group of specialist brands built up through decades of acquisitions, including REINECKER and KARSTENS in cylindrical and profile grinding, KOEPFER in gear hobbing, and NAXOS-UNION in crankshaft and camshaft grinding technology. The group's core product range covers turning (MSC, USC, HSC, VL, VM and VT series lathes), grinding (UG, ECM and WPG series machines), gear cutting, laser welding, induction heat-shrink assembly, and electrochemical machining, serving manufacturers that need high-precision, high-throughput metal-cutting equipment for components such as crankshafts, gears, bearing races and other rotationally symmetric parts. The CRC Robot Automation Cell performs a similar machine-tending role using basket-stacking or multi-level drawer supply systems, and in one demonstrated configuration a single robot serves four VL 8 turning machines simultaneously while handling heavy workpieces; EMAG positions the CRC as a low-investment, easily retrofitted option for existing EMAG machines. A further product, the TrackMotion automation system, uses rail-guided part transport to connect several machines into a linked production cell. In China, EMAG operates through EMAG (China) Machinery Co., Ltd., with manufacturing and sales operations in Changzhou, Jiangsu, a branch in Taicang, Jiangsu, located in the Sino-German Advanced Manufacturing Technology International Innovation Park, and a further facility, EMAG (Chongqing) Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., in Chongqing's Beibei district. The Taicang branch, which exhibited at the World Robot Conference 2026, represents the group's regional presence for machine-tool sales, automation-cell integration and after-sales service to Chinese manufacturers in sectors such as automotive powertrain, general engineering and bearing production. As a subsidiary of the German EMAG group, the China operation follows the parent company's technology roadmap and product catalog rather than developing independent product lines. EMAG's combination of precision machining equipment with in-house-branded robotic loading cells positions it as both a machine-tool manufacturer and a systems integrator for factory-floor automation, a dual role reflected in its long history of folding specialist grinding, gear-cutting and automation businesses into what the company calls its "ONE EMAG" organizational structure.
