The company develops AI-powered autonomous field robots designed to address labor shortages and improve the speed, accuracy, and cost of in-field plant data collection. Its flagship product, TerraSentia, is a compact under-canopy mobile robot that uses multi-sensor fusion and machine learning algorithms to measure plant phenotypic traits such as stalk diameter, plant height, and ear height in corn, soybean, and other row crops.
TerraSentia has been deployed across 142 research fields collecting data from nearly 200,000 maize plots in collaboration with Corteva Agriscience and the University of Illinois, with results published in Nature Communications Biology. EarthSense also offers TerraSentia+, a modular and extensible platform with out-of-the-box autonomy for a range of agricultural sensing tasks.
