Wuxi startup building LZ-series multi-finger dexterous hands with force/tactile sensing, ROS2 and Modbus interfaces for industrial manipulation
Wuxi Dexteroushands Robotics Technology Co., Ltd. (无锡灵掌机器人科技有限公司, brand DextrousHands / 灵掌机器人) is a Chinese developer of robot end-effector systems, founded in 2024 and based in the Wuxi Economic Development Zone, Jiangsu. It was incubated by the Wuxi Industrial Technology Research Institute and, per Dealroom, spun out of the Robotics Institute of Beihang University. The founder is Zhang Chao.
The company's work covers multi-finger dexterous hands, force and tactile sensing, control, and system integration for embodied-intelligence applications. Its catalogue lists the LZ-01 industrial-grade dexterous hand, LZ-Silent, a quiet medical-grade hand, and LZ-Pro, a research hand; the documentation site adds LZ-Standard, a servo-driven hand, LZ-Mini for compact installations, and LZ-Research, a high-DOF research platform. Supporting items are a universal quick-adapt mounting base, a tactile sensor for texture sensing, a multi-channel control box, and adaptive grippers. Software comprises the Lhand client for device connection, monitoring, parameter setup, motion mapping and record/playback; an LZ Gripper ROS2 driver; and a Modbus RTU over RS-485 protocol with published register and error-code definitions. A separate terminal product targets quadruped-robot field deployment, combining dual-joystick teleoperation, video downlink, status monitoring and task management.
The company says its industrial hand suits more than 90 percent of industrial scenarios, naming precision part assembly, work in hazardous environments and flexible-material grasping, and lists emergency response, industrial handling and commercial aerospace as target sectors. It reports several patent applications.
In August 2026 it announced an angel round of tens of millions of RMB from listed company Kailong Gaoke, Wuxi Future Angel Fund, Renzheng Fund and AUBO Intelligence, earmarked for R&D and delivery capacity.
