"Écosystème robotisé de désherbage autonome"
Pressac, France maker, active since 2020, of autonomous AI-guided weeding rovers for mechanical weed control, in electric and B100-compatible thermal versions.
Cyclair SAS is a French agricultural robotics company based at Le Ribourgeon in Pressac (Vienne department, Nouvelle-Aquitaine). It develops autonomous weeding robots intended to replace chemical herbicides in field crops and reduce farm operating costs, and dates its activity to 2020. The team of about 30 people works across mechanics, robotics, artificial intelligence, agronomy, automation and information systems, and describes its background as agriculture, engineering and the drone sector. The company is registered in the Poitiers trade register (SIREN 880 131 800) with share capital of EUR 866,960; Sebastien Gorry is listed as president.
The system is built around rovers, autonomous carrier platforms that pull or carry interchangeable mechanical weeding tools. The current model is the Rover GW, offered in electric and thermal versions. Cyclair states that the electric version runs about 8 hours (around 8 ha) and the thermal version about 40 hours (around 40 ha), with the thermal engine compatible with B100 biodiesel. The rovers page lists the GW with a 540 cm working width and a work rate of 28 ha per day. Navigation relies on a model trained on tens of thousands of images to detect crop rows by day and night, with centimetre-level precision and weeding effectiveness above 80% claimed. The machines are kept as light as possible on low-pressure tyres to limit soil compaction, and they stay connected to the Cyclair cloud to report status and crop information.
Tool options include a BAC tool, Kress finger weeders, hilling discs, semi-flexible and flexible hoes, and a semi-flexible weeder; optional spot spraying can be added alongside the mechanical tools. Development milestones published by the company: a pre-series of 3-metre-wide GS robots validated the technology in June 2024, and the prototype of the 7-metre-wide GW left the workshop in March 2025, with a field demonstration of the GW pre-series announced as the next step. Cooperatives and technical institutes have tested the robots across France.
Sales, installation, maintenance and after-sales support go through approved distributors whose technicians Cyclair trains; Ets Rocha Agri is named as a local distributor. The project has received French government funding under France 2030 and support from the regional council and the European Union under the FEDER/FSE 2021-2027 programme.
