Norlane, Victoria maker of The Cube modular drone autopilots, Here GNSS modules and Herelink video links; reports hundreds of thousands of Cubes shipped.
CubePilot is an Australian maker of flight-control hardware and embedded software for uncrewed vehicles, based in Norlane, Victoria, and led by chief executive Philip Rowse. Its core product is The Cube, a modular autopilot-on-module that plugs into a carrier board, an architecture the company traces back to the Pixhawk 2 that its founding team designed. CubePilot names Michael Oborne, Siddharth and Philip Rowse as the people at its helm; Rowse's modular flight-controller work led first to the Pixhawk Fire and then to the Pixhawk 2, and after 3DR limited access to that design the team partnered with Hex to commercialise the Cube. The Cube marked its tenth anniversary in October 2023, and the company describes shipping hundreds of thousands of units.
The Cube is sold in several colour-coded variants, each aimed at a different use. Cube Orange+ is presented as the general-purpose autopilot for open autonomous vehicles and supports fixed-wing, VTOL, multicopter, rover, boat and submarine platforms running ArduPilot or PX4. Cube Red is a redundant flight controller with two STM32H7 dual-core microcontrollers that run two independent ArduPilot instances, backed by four IMUs, three barometers, three CAN FD ports and 10/100 Ethernet, aimed at more safety-critical operations. Cube Blue is manufactured in the USA with US and allied components for buyers with supply-chain restrictions. Around the autopilot the company sells carrier boards (standard footprint, Kore, ADS-B IN, Mini and the EDU450 training set), the CubeNode and CubeNano boards, a CubeLAN 8-port switch, the CubeID identification and telecommunication service, and the Here Flow optical-flow sensor.
Two peripheral lines sit alongside the autopilots. The Here series are GNSS modules; Here4 uses a u-blox NEO-F9P dual-band receiver with RTK, DroneCAN at 8 Mbit/s and a published accuracy of 0.01 m + 1 ppm CEP. Herelink is a combined HD video, telemetry and remote-control link with a 5.46-inch touchscreen ground controller, operating in the 2.4 GHz band with a stated range of 20 km under FCC rules.
The company states it is headquartered in Australia with manufacturing in Taiwan and the USA. Its documentation lists product compliance documents for CE, FCC, IC, UKCA, RCM, NCC and RoHS, and it maintains a partner ecosystem that includes uAvionix, LightWare, Gremsy, RFDesign, IR-Lock, T-MOTOR and SpektreWorks. CubePilot describes its business as largely civilian, although in July 2026 it stated publicly that it would continue to supply Ukraine; in the same month it confirmed that some defence-related systems had been taken offline after a security incident.
