Qingdao chain-drive maker (SZSE: 003033) that launched the 17-DoF chain-driven CHOHO Hand and micro-chain systems for humanoid joints.
Qingdao CHOHO Industrial Co., Ltd. is a Chinese chain-transmission manufacturer founded on 9 October 1999 in Pingdu, Qingdao, Shandong Province, and listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange under the code 003033. Its core business is the design, manufacture and sale of chain drive systems: automotive engine timing and drive chain systems, industrial chain systems, agricultural machinery chains and parts, motorcycle chains, bicycle chains and saw chains, plus chain-based intelligent equipment. The company draws on close to three decades of chain transmission experience and sells under the CHOHO brand in China and abroad, including exhibiting at Automechanika Frankfurt.
CHOHO entered the humanoid and embodied-AI supply chain in 2024, when it began research on a chain-driven robot finger structure and filed a patent on the design. Robot work is run through its subsidiary Shanghai CHOHO Robotics Co., Ltd., which signed to locate in Shanghai's Zhangjiang area. On 6 January 2026, at a forum and launch event in Shanghai, the company unveiled the CHOHO Hand (Zhenshou), which it presents as the world's first chain-driven dexterous hand. The hand has 17 degrees of freedom, of which 7 are active and 10 passive, with a 5-DoF thumb and 3 DoF in each of the other fingers. Published figures include fingertip repeat positioning accuracy of plus or minus 0.1 mm, single-hand load capacity above 40 kg, a whole-unit weight of 715 g, chain mass under 20 g per metre, transmission efficiency of 95 to 98 percent, 400 N impact resistance, a life of more than one million action cycles and an operating range of minus 20 to 60 degrees Celsius. Sensors and housing materials can be customised. The company argues that the chain drive lowers five-year maintenance cost compared with tendon-driven and direct-drive hands and resists wear, fire, rust and corrosion.
Target uses named at launch are 3C electronics, home appliance and automotive assembly, logistics sorting and precision medical work, as well as teleoperated work in chemical plants, nuclear facilities and mines. At the launch AgiBot demonstrated the hand in a water-serving task and stated that its G2 robot had completed technical integration with it; Shanghai Zhuoyide Robotics also demonstrated the hand. CHOHO signed strategic cooperation agreements with Shanghai STEP Electric, Shanghai Zhuoyide Robotics, Hanwei Electronics Group and research institutions.
Beyond the hand, the company reports that its micro-chain system for humanoid robot joint differential modules has entered small-batch production. A planned private placement of up to 704 million yuan, still subject to Shenzhen Stock Exchange review and CSRC registration, includes a micro-chain system R&D and manufacturing project that the company describes as a second growth curve built around embodied intelligent robots. Its headquarters is at No. 112 Hong Kong Road, Pingdu, Qingdao. For RobotToday readers CHOHO is a transmission and end-effector component supplier for humanoid makers, with an established automotive chain business behind it.
