Chemify is a deep-technology company headquartered in Glasgow, Scotland (UK), founded in 2022 as a spin-out from the University of Glasgow by Professor Lee Cronin. The company's mission is to digitise chemistry at global scale by creating a universal infrastructure for the design, discovery, and manufacture of molecules. At the core of Chemify's technology is Chemputation — a proprietary paradigm that fuses a universal chemical programming language (χDL, the world's first of its kind, invented by Cronin's group), advanced robotics, and AI/machine learning to translate digital code into physical chemical compounds.
This allows users to specify molecular targets or reaction sequences in code, which are then automatically executed by robotic synthesis hardware, eliminating manual laboratory steps and dramatically accelerating the discovery and production cycle. In 2025 Chemify opened the world's first Chemifarm — a £12 million, 21,500-square-foot automated synthesis facility at Oakbank Industrial Estate in Maryhill, Glasgow. The Chemifarm features dedicated production suites, R&D labs, engineering and fabrication zones, and a cloud architecture capable of storing petabytes of high-resolution chemical data for AI-powered analysis.
The facility represents the first fully operational deployment of Chemputation at industrial scale. The primary customer verticals are pharmaceutical and biotech companies (drug discovery and small-molecule synthesis) and materials science firms. Chemify secured over $43 million in Series A funding in 2023, followed by an oversubscribed $50 million Series B co-led by Wing Venture Capital and Insight Partners in October 2025, bringing total disclosed funding to approximately $94.6 million.
Expansion plans include a Silicon Valley facility in the US, positioning the company to build a global network of Chemifarms for on-demand molecule manufacturing. The company's registered address is 11 Chapel Lane, Glasgow.
