Company Overview

Caterra is a Swiss agricultural robotics company founded in February 2023 as a spin-off from ETH Zurich, headquartered in Glattpark (Opfikon), Switzerland. The company develops fully autonomous electric robots that use precision laser technology to eliminate weeds in vegetable fields without herbicides or mechanical digging. Its flagship product, the Honeybee, uses advanced computer vision and deep learning to identify and distinguish weeds from crops at the earliest growth stages, targeting weeds within 3 mm accuracy.

A second model, the Grasshopper, was in pre-launch in 2026. The robots operate 24/7 and are available for purchase or lease in Switzerland and the EU. Caterra's technology addresses herbicide resistance, labor shortages, and sustainability demands in high-value vegetable production.

The company has received funding from the Swiss Climate Foundation.
