CAS Institute of Automation spin-off in Nanjing building the Casia Hand series of tendon- and direct-drive dexterous robot hands and embodied control models
CasiaHand Robotics Co., Ltd. (中科硅纪(南京)机器人有限公司) is a Chinese robotics company founded in May 2024 and registered in Nanjing, Jiangsu. It was incubated by the State Key Laboratory of Multimodal Artificial Intelligence Systems at the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASIA), and is described in Chinese coverage as CASIA's first mixed-ownership commercial spin-off. The founding team has worked on tendon-driven dexterous hands and embodied "large brain / small brain" models on CAS platforms since 2018.
The product line is the Casia Hand series of dexterous robotic hands, sold as components for humanoid robots, robot arms, exoskeletons, quadrupeds and AGVs. The M series includes the M6 (11 joints driven by 6 actuators, 0.41 kg, payload under 10 kg, 25 N maximum fingertip force, worm gear plus linkage drive, RS485 or FDCAN) and the M11 (11 joints, 11 actuators, 0.7 kg, payload under 5 kg, worm gear plus tendon drive, optional 8x6 tactile array). The X series includes the X12, a fully direct-drive 12-DoF hand rated at 30 kg payload for industrial use. A three-finger industrial G series (G4, G7) targets service and home robots, and a high-speed variant is quoted at 720 deg/s joint angular velocity with over one million cycles of rated life. Other products are the Brain-Si 0.5 hierarchical embodied model, the Wuji (无际) embodied industrial robot for machine tending, and a fiber-optic sensing data glove.
The company says core components are entirely domestically sourced. It reports cumulative orders above RMB 100 million in the first half of 2026 and targets roughly 30,000 hands per year by end-2026 and over 100,000 per year by late 2027 (both are stated plans, not shipped volumes). In December 2025 it closed an undisclosed strategic round led by Huakong Fund.
Primary type & automation activities this supplier delivers:
