Carrybots GmbH is a German manufacturer of automated guided vehicles (Fahrerlose Transportsysteme) for intralogistics, based in Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg. The company was founded in March 2021 as a joint venture between Schubert Business Development GmbH and flexlog GmbH; the Schubert Gruppe is also named as a strategic partner.
The product line centres on a single platform, HERBIE, an AGV that moves small load carriers, totes and cartons between production and logistics stations. Variants include HERBIE M and HERBIE XL, the latter offered with customer-specific top modules such as roller conveyors. The company states positioning accuracy of +/-3 mm reached in under one second, availability above 99%, a list price from EUR 10,900 per vehicle, and modularity across four dimensions (top module, height, charging system, software). An online configurator is offered on the website. SICK ScanGrid 2 safety scanners were adopted in 2020.
The concept originated in 2016 in research at the Institut für Fördertechnik und Logistiksysteme; flexlog and Gebhardt Fördertechnik built the first prototype in 2017 and the vehicle was shown at LogiMAT in Stuttgart in March 2018. In May 2022 Carrybots delivered its first large installation, 77 HERBIE units at Schubert Packaging Systems for TATA Consumer Products, reported as moving 912 tea carriers per minute in 24/7 operation. A strategic partnership with Körber followed in April 2023.
Documented installations span food and beverage, automotive, medical devices, packaging and academia, including Daimler Truck (32 HERBIEs handling about 182 AutoStore bins per hour), ECCO in Portugal (ten units), Lavazza, MAN, Sunrise Medical, MIWE, Leiber Group, KaVo Dental, Berry Global, egf, TH Ulm and the KIT wbk institute. No employee count, revenue or certification data is published.
