Botronics SRL is a Belgian deep-tech startup founded in December 2022 by Éric Piraux (CEO) and Antoine Van Malleghem (CTO), headquartered at Impasse du Cordonnier 5, 6210 Les Bons Villers, Hainaut, Belgium (company number BE0795394654). The company specializes in the development, industrialization, and distribution of autonomous robotic hardware and embedded AI software, with a mission to transform ordinary everyday objects into intelligent, autonomous companions.
Botronics's core technology is a compact embedded intelligence module — a self-contained box housing all computational, sensing, navigation, and actuation capabilities needed for full autonomy. The module is platform-agnostic: designed to scale from a garden wheelbarrow to a sophisticated electric vehicle. Navigation relies on GPS, GNSS (including Galileo), pre-loaded maps, ROS2 and Nav2 open-source robotics middleware, and machine learning algorithms developed in collaboration with the ESA Business Incubation Centre Belgium, where Botronics was selected for incubation beginning December 2023.
The company's flagship commercial product, iXi, is the world's first autonomous AI-powered golf trolley, developed in partnership with Belgian strategic innovation agency Futurewave. iXi autonomously follows golfers around the course, intelligently anticipates player movement, navigates hazards (bunkers, water) using GPS and a database of over 40,000 pre-mapped golf courses, and provides AI-driven gameplay analysis. It requires no remote control and operates silently alongside the golfer. iXi received coverage from Forbes, Fox Business, Golf Digest, MyGolfSpy, and Belgian media (L'Echo, De Tijd, La Libre, Het Nieuwsblad), and was exhibited at CES.
Botronics has raised €800k in its initial funding round and attracted over €2.6 million total from investors. The team of 8 engineers and business professionals actively contributes to the open-source ROS ecosystem and organizes the ROS Meetup Belgium, building a European ROS2/Nav2 competence center in Belgium.
