Founded in 1866 by Andreas Bizer, the company has remained under family ownership through five generations and is currently led by CEO Andreas W. Kraut.
The product range spans retail and industrial scales, food-processing slicers for butcher shops, cheese counters, and catering operations, labeling hardware and software including CleanCut linerless labels, checkweighers, and inspection systems for quality checking. Bizerba also develops software and cloud platforms for retail and logistics operations, an activity run through an in-house software unit since 1987. In 2025 the company joined FANUC, KILIVATIONS, J. Schmalz, and ViscoTec in developing robot-assisted food-automation equipment, showing a sandwich-assembly station that paired a FANUC cobot with a Bizerba slicer, a Schmalz vacuum gripper, and a ViscoTec dosing system at automatica 2025 in Munich.
Bizerba operates more than 40 subsidiaries and serves customers in over 120 countries. Its in-house test laboratory has held DAkkS accreditation to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 since 1991, and in 2026 the company received a reta award for a fresh-food-counter solution using artificial intelligence.
