Avy B.V. is an Amsterdam-based autonomous drone company founded in 2015 by Patrique Zaman as a spin-off from the European Space Agency (ESA) Business Incubation Centre programme. The company designs and manufactures the Aera, a fixed-wing eVTOL drone capable of vertical takeoff and landing combined with long-range fixed-wing flight. The Aera is purpose-built for BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) missions including medical payload delivery, emergency first response, search and rescue, and nature conservation.
Avy was awarded the first BVLOS Light UAS Operator Certificate (LUC) in the Netherlands and has conducted operational trials with partners including the Port of Rotterdam. The company develops full-stack drone systems integrating hardware, autonomy software, and ground control to support humanitarian and professional aerial missions.
