Its AV&R Aerospace brand designs and builds automated cells for the aerospace and gas turbine industry, serving engine manufacturers and their supply chains in new-part production and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO).
The company's systems combine industrial robots with machine vision to process critical rotating turbine parts, coated or uncoated. Robotic finishing cells perform deburring, polishing and profiling; the profiling systems generate elliptical profiles on both edges of compressor and turbine blades and vanes, including re-profiling of in-service parts, and close the loop with final profile inspection. Other product lines are robotic painting and coating application, automated visual inspection cells that replace manual surface inspection of blades, and custom intelligent automation. The profiling technology won the Society of Manufacturing Engineers Innovations Award in 2012 and was a finalist in the Aviation Week Innovation Challenge.
AV&R employs more than 120 people, over 80 of them engineering graduates, across its three sites, has completed more than 600 projects in over 20 years of aerospace work, and has installed systems in 14 countries.
