Company Overview

AV&R (Automation, Vision & Robotics) is a Canadian company founded in 1994, headquartered at 1203 rue Marie-Victorin, Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, Quebec, J3V 6C3. The company specializes in designing and manufacturing user-centric adaptive robotic systems for abrasive surface finishing and automated visual inspection, with 30 years of concentrated expertise on rotating turbine engine parts and medical implants.

AV&R's primary market is the aerospace sector, serving major OEM engine manufacturers including GE Aviation, Pratt & Whitney, Rolls-Royce, and Safran. Its machines profile, blend, deburr, and polish high-pressure compressor blades and fan blades for aircraft engines and power generation turbines. By 2024, AV&R reported that more than 80–90% of high-pressure compressor blades manufactured by global OEMs are profiled on AV&R machines, and that components finished by AV&R equipment are found on 90% of commercial aircraft.

The company's flagship product line is the BF-X (Blade Finishing Expert) series. The BF-X 200-i handles airfoil blades under 200 mm and performs profiling or deburring following visual inspection. The BF-X 200-c handles blades under 200 mm and performs any two of profiling, blending, or polishing. The BF-X 500 covers mid-range blade sizes. The BF-X 800 handles large blades from 500 mm to 800 mm with the full suite of profiling, blending, deburring, and polishing. Machines achieve profiling and blending tolerances of ±37.5 µm and polishing material removal consistency of ±15 µm.

Beyond aerospace, AV&R's technology is applied to prosthesis manufacturing and medical implants. Over 2,000 machines have been installed across 20+ countries, serving 200 clients including 15 OEMs. AV&R has a Research and Development Agreement with the National Research Council of Canada (NRC). The company celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2024 and is privately held.
