Company Overview

Auve Tech is an Estonian developer and manufacturer of autonomous passenger shuttles, based in Tallinn. The company grew out of a 2018 project with Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech), in which a small team built the university's first self-driving vehicle prototype to mark its centenary; the start-up was formed from that work. Vehicles are produced in-house in Tallinn, and the company sells a full-scope package of vehicle, autonomy software and remote supervision rather than the shuttle alone.

The current vehicle is MiCa (MiCa 2.0), an electric Level 4 shuttle with eight belted seats, designed for pre-defined routes within existing road infrastructure. Published figures: 4.2 m long, 1.85 m wide and 2.5 m high, 6 m turning radius, 1,660 kg curb weight, 800 kg payload, cruising speed electronically limited to 25 km/h, 22 kW charging with a full charge in 55 minutes on a fast charger, and electric 1,200 mm double-leaf doors. MiCa succeeded the earlier Iseauto shuttle in 2022. Earlier research vehicles included a hydrogen-powered autonomous vehicle built with the University of Tartu and a supercapacitor-powered shuttle demonstrated with Skeleton Technologies, both in 2020.

The autonomy software, Auve Stack 2.0, was launched together with MiCa 2.0 in May 2025. It fuses data from 7 LiDAR sensors, 12 cameras (10 exterior, 2 interior), GPS and IMU, with a stated detection range of more than 100 m. It detects obstacles as small as 15 cm, overtakes while keeping at least 50 cm clearance, and handles intersections, crosswalks and speed bumps. A remote supervision layer lets one operator monitor several shuttles from a control centre, with live camera and LiDAR feeds and cabin views, intervening only by issuing commands. At the MiCa 2.0 launch the company said it had delivered nearly 50 vehicles.

Deployments listed by the company include Tallinn Airport and Tartu in Estonia, Takamatsu and Sakai Town in Japan, the VISON resort, Masdar City in Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Prague, Gdansk, Tampere, Kongsberg, Helmond, Harwell in England, and West Palm Beach and Boca Raton in Florida. The first Estonian-built vehicle was delivered to Japan in 2023, MiCa began operating in Masdar City in early 2024 and ran on public roads in West Palm Beach from April 2024, and Boca Raton put MiCa into service at Mizner Park in November 2025. In the United States, Auve Tech partnered with Guident in 2024 to integrate Guident's Remote Monitor and Control Center teleoperation system into MiCa, and Darwin Innovation Group became an official distributor of the shuttle.

At Tallinn Airport, a pilot with aircraft maintenance company Magnetic MRO began in 2023. After receiving authorisation in August 2026, Auve Tech began running MiCa shuttles airside with no onboard safety operator, supervised remotely from a monitoring centre, which the company describes as the first service of its kind at a European airport. It has also received an EU research and development grant of EUR 23,548 to add camera-based object detection to its autonomy software.
