Auterion is an autonomous systems software and hardware company founded in 2017 by Lorenz Meier, creator of the PX4 open-source autopilot, MAVLink protocol, and Pixhawk hardware. Headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, with a European R&D hub in Munich, Germany, Auterion develops AuterionOS, a commercial distribution of PX4 for autonomous aerial and ground robots, the Skynode onboard compute and flight control module, the Nemyx drone airframe, and fleet management software including Auterion Suite and Mission Control. The platform is mandated as a U.S. government standard for drone programs and is used by defense customers including the Defense Innovation Unit.
In 2025, Auterion and Airlogix established a joint venture to scale autonomous drone production for Ukraine and NATO allies, and demonstrated a multi-manufacturer drone swarm live-fire test. The company raised a $130 million Series B led by Bessemer Venture Partners in September 2025, reaching a valuation above $600 million. Auterion contributes the majority of code to the PX4 open-source project.
