Aquitaine Robotics
"Robots that make sense"
Aquitaine Robotics is the Nouvelle-Aquitaine robotics cluster, an association founded in 2013 that groups about 150 companies, labs and training bodies.
Aquitaine Robotics is the regional robotics cluster of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, in south-west France. It was created in July 2013 and operates as a non-profit association under the French law of 1901, with operational support from the Agence de Developpement et d'Innovation (ADI) Nouvelle-Aquitaine. The cluster was co-founded by ADI Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Bordeaux INP, and the Conseil regional Nouvelle-Aquitaine is a founding member that also contributes funding. Its office is located at 6 allee du Doyen Georges Brus in Pessac, on the Bordeaux university campus.
The network brings together around 150 members, mainly robotics companies, research laboratories, training organisations and end users; the cluster counts 155 robotics players in the region. Its stated objectives are to structure the regional robotics sector, to support collaborative R&D projects between members, and to develop research and training skills in robotics. Services offered to members include project support, a labelling committee for collaborative projects, relays for calls for projects (for example the France 2030 "Defi Flagships" call on robotics subsystems), a jobs and internships board and event organisation.
Aquitaine Robotics is a founding member of the Federation Francaise des Clusters de la Robotique (FFCR) and is a member of euRobotics, EIT Manufacturing and Aerospace Valley. Partners include the CREAHd competitiveness cluster and Aquitaine Science Transfert. Activities include the RoboCupJunior Halloween Open in Bordeaux (29 October to 1 November 2026), a Rock Climbing Robots workshop and a robotics research day on the Bordeaux campus. Governance is shared by two co-presidents, Christophe Riboulet (PRODITEC) and Ouiddad Labbani-Igbida (XLIM, University of Limoges); the cluster is run by director Eric Pernot.
