Loomis, California direct-drive motor maker absorbed into Celera Motion and now sold under Novanta's Nasdaq-listed Robotics and Automation segment.
Applimotion is a direct-drive motor brand that began as an independent company in Loomis, California, supplying frameless motors to original equipment manufacturers. The business was acquired by Novanta Inc. (Nasdaq: NOVT) and folded into Celera Motion, Novanta's motion control business in Bedford, Massachusetts. The Celera Motion domain now redirects to Novanta's Robotics and Automation division, where the Applimotion families continue to be sold.
The range covers slotted and slotless rotary frameless motors, linear motors and arc segments supplied as rotor-plus-stator kits for integration into a customer's mechanism. Named families include the Omni series of low-profile rotary motors with large through holes, the Agility series built on ZeroCog slotless technology for zero cogging and low torque ripple, the Infinity series of thin arc-shaped segments for partial or full 360-degree rotation, and the Javelin and Juke linear series for high-acceleration, lightweight axes. Typical applications are robot joints, surgical robotics, semiconductor and metrology equipment, and scanning, pointing and cutting systems that need smooth velocity control.
Within Novanta the motors are sold alongside IncOder inductive encoders (17-20 bit), Everest Safe and Denali Safe servo drives certified to SIL 3 / PL e Cat 3, and force/torque sensors as an integrated motion stack for robot builders.
