Company Overview

Antobot Ltd is a British agricultural robotics company founded in 2019 by Howard Wu, PhD, and based at the Arise Innovation Hub on Alan Cherry Drive in Chelmsford, Essex. It builds autonomous robots and data tools for commercial soft-fruit growers, with strawberries as the main crop, and reports operations in the UK, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Canada and parts of Asia. Antobot has been financed through grants, a seed round led by Intron Technology Holdings (reported by law firm Ignition as a GBP 1.2 million seed investment) and revenue. Until 2025 it offered its machines as robots-as-a-service; AgFunderNews reports that it is moving most customers to buying and operating the robots themselves, has distributor agreements in the UK and Spain, a planned push into Canada and a joint venture in Asia, and is targeting 300 robot deployments in strawberry crops in 2027.

The main product is the U303 UV-C robot, an autonomous treatment robot that exposes plants to UV-C light to damage fungal pathogens and reduce fungicide use in horticulture. Official specifications give dimensions of 1,300-1,800 x 633 x 1,350 mm (H x W x L), a weight of 170 kg, a 48 V 80 Ah battery, 2.5 hours of operation per charge, skid steering, 13 x 4.30-8 tubeless tyres and a 25-degree approach and departure angle. The robot connects over Wi-Fi, 4G/5G and GNSS, can run in manual, semi-autonomous or fully autonomous mode, adapts to tabletop widths of 80 to 150 cm, and a single operator can supervise a fleet. Antobot reports that some strawberry growers saw yield increases of 20 to 30 percent. Field experience led to design changes such as swappable batteries and a simplified suspension.

Antobot also supplies AI scouting modules that count and size fruit, judge maturity and forecast yield for harvest, supply-chain and sales planning, as well as a logistics robot. At Driscoll's, UV-C robots and scouting modules cover about 40 hectares, which the company says is all of Driscoll's summer strawberry production in China. At Tiptree, the UV-C plant protection robot, logistics robot and scouting module are used on about 15 hectares of strawberries. Other partners shown on its website include Haygrove, Royal Brinkman, Peake Fruit, Charltons, Genson, New Growing System and Amway.
