"The Autonomy Layer for Agricultural Labor"
Accra-based startup founded in 2021 building FAMA, a GPS-free, vision-guided electric robot that plants, fertilizes and weeds row crops, offered per hectare.
3Farmate Robotics is a Ghanaian agricultural robotics startup based in Accra. Founded in 2021 by Clinton Anani, it develops autonomous farm machinery for commercial farm operations across Africa, with other markets to follow. The company describes its team as a small group of engineers, agronomists and operators with five years of building and validating autonomous systems on working farms.
Its first product, FAMA, is an electric autonomous platform that plants, fertilizes and weeds row crops. Rather than relying on GPS, FAMA navigates with onboard vision, depth sensing and edge AI, which the company says suits uneven terrain, loose or muddy soil and varying weather. According to 3Farmate, FAMA operates without a driver, including before sunrise, places seed and inputs with centimetre-level accuracy, works day and night, recharges on site and is modular for several field operations. Press coverage in April 2026 reported that one operator can supervise multiple units, each covering 11 to 14 hectares per day with planting precision under 85 mm.
3Farmate charges farmers per hectare served instead of selling equipment upfront. The company reports more than 20 field trials, more than 10 commercial pilots and over 100 acres validated. Ghanaian business media reported in March 2026 that the company planned to launch FAMA for precision agriculture.
