EVENT OVERVIEW

The 2027 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS 2027) will take place September 26 to October 1, 2027 at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence, Italy. The conference moves from Pittsburgh, host of the 2026 edition, to Europe, and according to professional congress organizer AIM Group International it is the first IROS held in Italy. Eugenio Guglielmelli is General Chair and Sami Haddadin is Program Chair. The event is sponsored by IEEE, the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society, the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, the Robotics Society of Japan and SICE, under the auspices of the University of Florence.

The 2027 theme is "Human-Centric Robots for Sustainable Life." The call covers cooperative and trustworthy robots, the combination of robotics with AI and IoT, and robotics for sustainability and climate challenges. Paper submissions are due March 1, 2027. AIM Group expects more than 5,000 attendees over six days, with more than 30 meeting rooms and 5,000 m² of net exhibition space for robot competitions. For scale, the 2025 edition in Hangzhou accepted 1,991 papers from 4,306 submissions, and the 2026 edition in Pittsburgh presented nearly 2,000 papers. Registration fees and the full program have not yet been published.
