EVENT OVERVIEW

The International Robot Exhibition (iREX) is Japan's flagship robotics trade show, organized every two years by the Japan Robot Association (JARA) and The Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun. The organizers have announced that the next edition will be held in early December 2027 at Tokyo Big Sight; exact dates, halls and exhibitor targets have not yet been published. In the intervening even year, the same organizers launched RoboNext, a separate robot show in Osaka.

The 2025 edition, held December 3–6, set a record with 673 exhibitors, including 140 overseas companies from 13 countries and regions, on 3,334 booths across Tokyo Big Sight's West and East halls. It drew 156,110 visitors, up from 148,125 in 2023, including 10,147 from overseas. Physical AI was the main theme: FANUC and Yaskawa Electric showed AI-driven robot systems developed with NVIDIA, and humanoids from Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Neura Robotics and Unitree drew crowds, alongside hybrid designs pairing humanoid upper bodies with mobile bases for logistics. Exhibits are grouped into Smart Production Robots for manufacturing, construction and agriculture, and Smart Community Robots for services, healthcare and daily life, with dedicated zones for system integrators, logistics and parts-feeding equipment. Forums include the IFR-iREX International Robotics Forum.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • One of the world's largest robot trade shows, split into Smart Production Robots and Smart Community Robots categories
