Italian robotics startup GBionics has secured new financing to accelerate development of its full-stack humanoid platform, marking Italy’s strongest entry yet into the rapidly intensifying global humanoid competition. Spun out from a decade of biomedical and mechatronics research, GBionics focuses on high-fidelity biomechanical actuation, neuromuscular-inspired control, and lightweight structures designed for industrial-grade endurance.
The new capital will expand engineering headcount in Milan and support integration of GBionics’ proprietary anthropomorphic actuator system, which replicates human-like torque profiles with reduced energy consumption. Early prototypes have demonstrated stable locomotion and dexterous upper-body manipulation, positioning the company as a serious European contender alongside leading U.S. and Asian humanoid developers.
Investors say the timing aligns with Europe’s push to localize next-generation robotics capabilities. “Humanoids will reshape labor-intensive industries, and Europe must have its own champions,” one backer noted. GBionics plans to unveil updated prototypes and pilot programs with industrial partners in 2026.
