EVENT OVERVIEW

The European Robotics Forum (ERF) is the annual meeting of Europe's robotics research and industry community. euRobotics, a Brussels-based non-profit with more than 200 institutional members, runs the forum. The first ERF took place in San Sebastián, Spain, in 2010. Recent editions were held in Odense (2023), Rimini (2024), Stuttgart (2025) and Stavanger (2026). The 18th edition runs March 2–4, 2027 at ICC Birmingham, with lab tours and member meetings on March 1 and 5. It is the first ERF held in England. The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) in Coventry and the University of Birmingham won the bid. MTC's Karol Janik is General Chair. The organizer expects more than 1,600 participants, though other official pages cite 1,000 to 1,500. Sponsors announced so far include PAL Robotics, ARIA, autonox Robotics and Ocado Group.

ERF is built around parallel workshops rather than a single keynote stage. The draft list, updated October 12, 2026, numbers more than 60 sessions. Topics include humanoid robots and their safety, embodied AI, digital twins, robotics for SMEs, healthcare and surgical robotics, agriculture, space, marine and defense robotics, and regulation under the EU AI Act. A founders-and-investors workshop and B2B matchmaking sessions target startups. A Scientific Track is open for papers until October 26, 2026. euRobotics presents the Georges Giralt PhD Award, the Technology Transfer Award and the Renaud Champion Entrepreneurship Award at a ceremony on March 3. The euRobotics General Assembly meets on March 1. The program also includes plenaries, an exhibition, a welcome reception, a charity run, and a gala dinner at the Library of Birmingham.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • First European Robotics Forum held in England

  • More than 60 workshops in the draft program

  • Humanoids, embodied AI and Physical AI in several sessions

  • euRobotics awards for PhD work, tech transfer and startups

  • Free registration for accredited media

RECOMMENDED ATTENDEES

ERF suits robotics researchers, R&D managers, startup founders, investors, cluster managers and EU policy staff who want to shape European research agendas and find project partners. Many workshops are planning sessions for EU funding and standards work, so the forum is more useful for networking than for product shopping. Buyers looking for a large exhibition floor will find more vendors at automatica in Munich or Hannover Messe. US and Asian companies looking for European research partners or Horizon Europe consortia are a good fit.
