EVENT OVERVIEW

automatica 2027 takes place June 22–25, 2027 at the Trade Fair Center Messe München in Munich, Germany. Messe München organizes the fair, and VDMA Robotics + Automation, the German machinery association's robotics division, appears on the site as a partner. It runs in parallel with LASER World of PHOTONICS and World of Quantum on the same grounds and dates, and with munich_i, the high-tech platform that Messe München runs with the Munich School of Robotics and Machine Intelligence and the Technical University of Munich. The 2025 edition, held June 24–27, 2025, drew 49,300 visitors from more than 90 countries, 38% of them from outside Germany, according to Messe München's final report. About 800 exhibitors from 40 countries filled six halls and showed 1,120 robots. After Germany, the top visitor countries were Austria, Italy, Switzerland, South Korea and China.

The site lists three focus topics for 2027: Digitalisation and AI, Sustainable Production, and Future of Work. Exhibition sectors cover assembly and handling technology, industrial robotics, service robotics, machine vision, and software and cloud computing. The 2025 supporting program had 14 showcases and stages and more than 270 keynotes, with a two-day MedtecSUMMIT and a munich_i Hightech Summit featuring speakers from Google DeepMind, Microsoft and Nvidia. NEURA Robotics showed a new humanoid generation with more than 60 of its robots on its stand. munich_i's three formats, the Hightech Summit, AI.Society and the Robothon® competition, are listed for 2027, but the site says its program details still refer to 2025. Ticket prices, the hall plan and the exhibitor list for 2027 have not been published. A separate sister event, automatica Shanghai, runs March 8–10, 2027.

RECOMMENDED ATTENDEES

Best for production and automation managers, system integrators and engineers from automotive, electronics, metalworking, food and medtech manufacturing who want to compare industrial robots, cobots, grippers, machine vision and automation software in one place. Robot, component and vision suppliers, including Chinese makers expanding into Europe, can meet a large concentration of European automation buyers. Investors and media can cover European and Asian robotics firms at once. Researchers will find the munich_i program useful but should look to ICRA or IROS for papers. Teams focused only on humanoids may get a tighter program at a dedicated summit.
