EVENT OVERVIEW

AIM 2027 is the IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics. It takes place June 29 to July 2, 2027 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The venue has not been announced. AIM is co-sponsored by the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society, the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society and the ASME Dynamic Systems and Control Division. It is the flagship conference of IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics (TMECH). The series began in Tokyo in 1997 and has been annual since 2007. Canada hosted before in Montreal (2010) and Banff (2016). Recent editions were in Boston (2024) and Hangzhou (2025). The General Chair is Qingze Zou of Rutgers University. Local arrangements are led by Qiao Sun and Mahdis Bisheban of the University of Calgary. Attendance figures are not published.

AIM covers mechatronics, robotics, dynamic systems modeling and control. The program includes contributed and invited sessions, special sessions, tutorials and workshops, plenary talks, student programs, industry programs and conference awards. Late-breaking results are shown as peer-reviewed posters, with a later deadline. Authors can also submit to a TMECH/AIM Focused Section on emerging topics. Accepted papers appear in the August 2027 issue of TMECH and must be presented at AIM 2027; rejected papers are considered as conference papers. The call for papers welcomes exhibits from industry and research labs. Kenn Oldham (University of Michigan) chairs industrial relations. Plenary speakers have not been announced. Contributed papers are normally six pages, with a maximum of eight, and go into the proceedings submitted to IEEE Xplore.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • IEEE RAS, IEEE IES and ASME DSCD co-sponsored mechatronics conference

  • TMECH Focused Section: journal papers published August 2027

  • Paper deadline Jan 26, 2027; late-breaking posters May 9, 2027

  • Exhibits from industry and research labs invited

  • Third Canadian host city after Montreal (2010) and Banff (2016)

RECOMMENDED ATTENDEES

AIM suits researchers and engineers in mechatronics, precision motion control, actuators, sensors, micro/nano robotics and robot dynamics. It is a good fit for graduate students who want a journal fast track through TMECH. Component makers in motion control, drives and sensing can meet academic groups through exhibits. Business buyers and investors will find little here; Automate (North America) is a better fit. Researchers focused on full robot systems and AI may prefer ICRA or IROS.
