EVENT OVERVIEW

ACIRS, the Asia-Pacific Conference on Intelligent Robotic Systems, will hold its 12th edition on July 23–25, 2027 in Hong Kong, according to an announcement posted on the official website on October 10, 2026. The conference is sponsored by City University of Hong Kong, and its conference chairs are Graziano Chesi of the University of Hong Kong and Xingjian Jing of City University of Hong Kong. Venue and hotel details have not yet been published. The 2027 dates return the series to the July slot used for most earlier editions, after the 2026 conference ran August 21–23 at the Nina Hotel Island South in Hong Kong and the 2025 edition was held in Haikou in November. Held every year since 2016, ACIRS has met in Wuhan, Singapore, Nagoya and Dalian, among other cities, and ran as a virtual event from 2020 to 2023.

The 2027 call for papers is organized into eight tracks: robot design and mechatronics; perception, sensing and state estimation; artificial intelligence, robot learning and embodied intelligence; motion planning, control and manipulation; autonomous and multi-robot systems; human-robot interaction; systems engineering, simulation and integration; and emerging applications. Full papers of 4 to 10 pages are due March 10, 2027, with notification on April 10 and a registration deadline of April 30. Accepted papers will appear in the ACIRS 2027 proceedings. The organizer says proceedings from 2016 to 2025 were archived in IEEE Xplore and indexed in Ei Compendex and Scopus, but it has not yet named a publisher for 2027. Author registration is USD 600, or USD 550 for IEEE members, students and committee members, and non-presenting delegates pay USD 300. Keynote speakers are still listed as TBA.

RECOMMENDED ATTENDEES

Graduate students and early-career researchers in robot perception, control, learning and autonomous systems looking for an indexed venue in Asia; faculty from Hong Kong, mainland Chinese and Southeast Asian universities presenting applied robotics work; and R&D engineers at regional robotics and embodied-AI companies following academic research or recruiting. The event is of limited relevance to commercial buyers, integrators or investors, who are better served by robotics trade shows.
