Company Overview

Z-LASER GmbH (formerly Z-LASER Optoelektronik GmbH) is a German manufacturer of industrial laser systems headquartered in Freiburg im Breisgau, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, founded in 1985. The company employs over 120 people, with approximately 25% of staff dedicated to research and development. Z-LASER produces three primary product lines: laser projectors for optical worker guidance, machine vision laser modules, and positioning lasers.

The ZLP series laser projectors project variable templates, assembly patterns, and pick-and-place outlines directly onto workpieces to guide workers in assembly, kitting, and composite layup operations. The ZLP1 is an entry-level model for logistics and light assembly with a working field up to 3.5 m x 3.5 m. The ZLP2 is a high-precision model with fiber-coupled green laser at 520 nm, accuracy of plus or minus 0.1 mm per meter, and fan angles of 60 x 60 or 80 x 80 degrees.

The ZLP HighPower extends the working range to 10 x 10 m at distances up to 15 m for large aerospace structures, wind turbine blades, and concrete construction. The ZM18 series machine vision laser modules are compact M18-threaded industrial sensors offering wavelengths from 405 nm to 980 nm, output power up to 200 mW, IP67 protection, and pattern options including lines, points, dot matrices, and crosses, with TTL modulation up to 500 kHz. Z-LASER distributes globally through more than 60 distribution partners and is certified to ISO 9001:2015 for its quality management system.

The company is a member of the European Machine Vision Association (EMVA) and A3 Association for Advancing Automation. Primary markets include automotive manufacturing, aerospace and composite structures, electronics production, textiles, wood processing, logistics, and construction.
