Nanjing-based maker of vision-based tactile sensors, tactile world models and dexterous hands for robots; raised over RMB 1B in a 2026 Series E.
Yimu Technology, legally Shenzhen Yimu Technology Co., Ltd. and branded YIMU, is a Chinese developer of tactile sensing for robots, together with the models and robot hands built on top of it. Its founder and chief executive is Li Zhiqiang, who holds a PhD from Carnegie Mellon University. The company started in Silicon Valley, later set up operations in Shenzhen, and today lists its business address in Qinhuai District, Nanjing.
Yimu did not begin in robotics. Its first products were micro-spectral sensing chips and AI water-quality modules supplied into home-appliance and water-system supply chains, with TCL among its early backers. That line continues as Sentra E0, a 60-gram in-line sensor that measures TOC, COD and turbidity with a stated 1 percent accuracy and 0.1-second response, sold for water utilities, campuses, transport hubs and hospitals.
The robotics business is organised as a three-layer stack the company calls R-AGI. Sentra T0 is a vision-based tactile sensor: a camera reads micro-deformation of a soft contact surface, and algorithms convert it into pressure, shear, texture and slip signals for force-adaptive grasping and real-time slip correction. Press coverage of the sensor line cites a thickness under 3 millimetres, more than 10,000 sensing points, 0.005 N force resolution and over one million press cycles. On top of this sits a World Action Model trained on vision, touch, language and proprioception, with tactile-driven reinforcement learning, and DEXTRA, its line of robot hands and arms; a five-finger visuo-tactile hand was shown in 2026. With Stanford University it is building TouchNet, an open tactile dataset due for wider release at the end of 2026. Named application areas include humanoid robots, automotive assembly and inspection, data collection, and pharmaceutical and food handling.
In July 2026 Yimu closed a Series E of more than RMB 1 billion, at a post-money valuation reported above RMB 10 billion, from undisclosed RMB, USD and industrial investors. Earlier rounds included a Series D led by SAIF Partners in early 2025.
