The division began manufacturing SCARA robots in 1984, tracing roots to robot technology developed for Yamaha's own motorcycle assembly lines. The product lineup includes the YK-X and YKX SCARA robot series (payloads from 1 to 20 kg, arm reach 120–1200 mm), multi-axis Cartesian robots for high-speed assembly and dispensing, single-axis actuators and linear modules, a 7-axis collaborative robot arm, and robot vision systems. The division also manufactures surface mount technology (SMT) equipment — chip mounters and printed circuit board assembly systems — which hold the world's second-largest market share in that segment, with more than 35,000 installed SMT machines globally. Products serve electronics assembly, semiconductor packaging, automotive parts manufacturing, food processing, and precision assembly industries.
