WeRide Inc. is a global autonomous driving technology company founded in 2017 in Silicon Valley by Tony Han, former Chief Scientist of Baidu's Autonomous Driving Unit. Headquartered in Guangzhou, China, with additional offices in San Jose (USA), Abu Dhabi, Singapore, Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen, WeRide develops Level 2 to Level 4 autonomous driving systems across multiple vehicle categories. WeRide's commercial product lineup includes: the GXR Robotaxi (Gen4.5 platform), approved for fully unmanned paid ride-hailing in Beijing in February 2025 and launched commercially on the Uber platform in Abu Dhabi in December 2024; the WeRide Robobus MiniBus, an L4 autonomous minibus accommodating up to nine passengers, which launched the world's first fare-charging L4 robobus service in central Guangzhou in May 2025 and operated at the 2025 Roland-Garros Grand Slam in Paris through a partnership with Renault Group; the Robovan W5, an autonomous logistics vehicle that received permits in Guangzhou's Huangpu and Nansha Districts in 2025; and the Robosweeper, an autonomous road-cleaning vehicle. WeRide holds autonomous driving permits in five markets — China, UAE, Singapore, France, and the United States — and has deployed or tested vehicles in over 40 cities across 12 countries. Total funding raised exceeds $1.1 billion across 11+ rounds, with investors including Grab and Uber.
