Spanish startup building THOR, a cabinless, driverless 150 hp electric tractor/UGV with 200 kWh swappable batteries for farms and defence logistics.
Voltrac is a Spanish agricultural and dual-use technology startup developing THOR, a driverless, fully electric, cabinless farm vehicle. The company was co-founded by Francisco Infante Aguirre, an aerospace engineer who previously worked on propulsion for eVTOL and supersonic aircraft and grew up in the family implement business Aguirre Agricola, and Thomas Hubregtsen, the CEO, who earlier worked on AI at BMW and quantum AI at Google X and co-founded Extropic. The founders met in Berlin's startup scene, and THOR is produced in Valencia, Spain.
THOR was designed from scratch rather than retrofitted, and Voltrac says it uses about 70% fewer components than a conventional tractor. Official specifications list four electric motors, roughly 150 hp (111 kW) of power, a top speed of about 40 km/h, and 200 kWh of interchangeable batteries giving 8 to 20 hours of operation. The vehicle weighs about 3,500 kg empty, measures 4.5 m long and 1.6 m high with a 2.2 m wheelbase and 0.5 m ground clearance, and runs on 380/85R28 tyres with four-wheel drive and four-wheel steering. It has a rear three-point hitch rated at 3,000 kg, an optional 1,000 kg front hitch, rear and optional front PTO at 1,000/540 rpm, and a 73 L/min hydraulic pump, so it works with existing implements. Operation is by software and joystick, with a 360-degree camera system, short-range manual remote control, and dual-SIM plus Starlink connectivity.
A defence variant markets THOR as an unmanned ground vehicle for front-line resupply, with a 4,000 kg payload, 8,000 kg towing capacity and a 3,000 kg crane hook, and as an open platform for mobile power, edge computing, communications relays and third-party sensors. Voltrac raised a EUR 2 million pre-seed round from FoodLabs and Antler in mid-2025, followed in November 2025 by a EUR 7 million seed round led by Extantia with FoodLabs, Antler, PUSH and Prototype Capital. The company tested on partner vineyards in Spain, runs joint sales events with Aguirre Agricola, targeted first customer deliveries in Q1 2026, and planned a production rate of 100 units per year in 2026.
